So oppo I have taken the plunge and finally gone and bought the answer, yes you read that right, as we know Miata is always the answer and indeed it was to my question of: What’s a cheap little fun sports car that I can buy.
Well here it is, a 1.8l NB MX5

I just want to point out that this is a rare instance where you guys got a side marker light that we didn’t. The one between the door and the front tire isn’t present on US models.

Because the US is the only major country that still doesn’t require a turn signal repeater on the side of the car. Because of the volume of US sales, it’s worth it for mfrs to skimp on this.
Honestly it’s one of the worst safety loopholes I know of on cars. That side indicator is super useful in high speed lane changes. That plus red rear turn indicators which has very poor visibility compared to amber.

I never noticed before. My 95 BMW has a side signal in the same place, as does the new Miata. I guess it’s up to the manufacturer.

Yay blue NB Miatas, welcome to the club! Any plans for modifications? Hopefully you get to autocross it, such an excellent car for that.

1st modification will be removing the stock stereo for another one with usb/aux and then a smaller steering wheel as I don’t have much space between my legs and steering wheel
will definitely be autocrossing it (autosolo over here)

As a ‘02 Miata owner, I welcome you to the club!
I read in the comments that you’re planning on ditching the OEM radio, which should be easier for you as you do not have the high-end model with its specialized Bose radio, amps, speakers, and wiring. The Bose system is polarizing to owners but it’s universal that it’s not as interchangeable as the non-Bose unit. You should be able to fit anything in there, although I recommend getting a radio that can be read in sunlight, like for civilian marine applications such as open-roof boating!
As for the steering wheel, have you also considered a foam-ectomy on the seats to lower yourself in the car? I’ve sat in another NB2 that lost of a lot of its lower seat cushion foam and the car felt amazing to drive in spirited manner...although not as comfortable since I was almost touching the seat springs!
Other than that, I envy you because you get the better-flowing exhaust and intake manifolds along with a 500 rpm-higher redline! I hope you have a Torsen to put that power to the pavement!

Lucky you. Great colour, too. NBs are plenty fun. Don’t let the NA purists rain on your parade.

That was some welcome post :) thanks, unfortunately I don’t have a lsd in the car that I am aware of, I have read about this foamectomy but I’m not sure I want to lose any comfort I have considered getting some nice bucket seats in the car anyway
as for the marine stereo, that’s something that I forgot to take into account though I was going to use a double din kenwood unit that I’ve had lying around from 2 cars ago that I will use to see how I get on with that
